Plot

In the sleepy rural town of Maycomb Alabama, Scout Finch lives with her brother Jem and her widowed father, Atticus Finch. While the Great Depression happens around them, Scout and Jem befriend another boy Dill one summer and the three become a trio, embarking on various adventures around the town.

The main plot revolves around Atticus, a top lawyer who agrees to defend a black man, Tom Robinson, who has been accused of raping a white woman. Determined to reveal the ingrained racism in Maycomb, Atticus fights Robinson’s case and allows his children to watch it in the courtroom. An inspiring and educational journey for both the children and the audience, many themes in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird still resonate universally today.
